Melanie Sykes confessed her time on Celebrity MasterChef forced her call time on her TV career for good.
The beloved TV presenter first shot to fame when she fronted a TV advertising campaign for Boddington’s beer back in the 1990s.
Since then, she progressed to co-hosting Today with Des and Mel alongside Des O’Conner before she joined the panellist on Loose Women.

But back in 2021, the star took part on the beloved BBC One cookery show which she now credits for being the catalyst behind the reason she stepped out of the limelight.
In her new book, the 52-year-old host lifted the lid on a number of her poor experiences working in the TV industry in her new autobiography, Illuminated.
But after thirty years working as a TV presenter, the TV star explained her time on the BBC cookery show was by far the worst of all.
She recalled being told by long-running judge Gregg Wallace that taking part on the reality show would be a boost to her career, explaining it “would do a lot for you.”
But in her book, she explained that competing on the show made her “decide to end my television career once and for all” adding: “I was done.”
Elsewhere in her explosive tell-all, the former model recalled another time she was “thrown under the bus” by TV executives who she claims falsely blamed her and her co-host for being the reason behind a show being shelved.
She went on to reflect on how she and Mark Wright were chosen to be the hosts of what was tipped to be an exciting new gameshow.

But once filming was wrapped, it was decided by telly bosses that the show must never see the light of day after it fell four of TV gambling rules.
The mum-of-two expressed her shock when she later saw a statement issued to the press which put the blame on her and Mark’s lack of knowledge and alleged failure to understand the show’s concept as the reason behind its premature axing.
She wrote: “The line was that Mark and I had ‘failed to understand the concept of the game’. I was fuming. Thrown under the bus yet again. This industry was a horror story.”
