Andy Cohen's Son Ben Attended His First Concert & His Connection to the Musician Made the Experience Extra Special

Andy Cohen’s son Ben got to experience his first concert at just 4 years old — and the musician is not only a globally-known star, but also a very close family friend.

On Wednesday, Cohen posted a series of photos on his Instagram documenting his and Ben’s night at John Mayer’s show in New York City. Referencing the Grateful Dead, whose music Mayer played with the band Dead & Company, the talk show host wrote, “Come, hear Uncle John’s Band! First concert of what I hope will be a long run of them!” In one of the photos, Cohen and Ben stand off to the side of the stage to watch the “Daughters” crooner perform, with the little boy perched atop his dad’s shoulders. The view doesn’t get much better than that!

Mayer truly is like an uncle to Ben. In December 2020, Cohen shared a photo of the musician playing an electric guitar while the little boy was standing next to him, and in honor of Ben’s third birthday in February 2022, Cohen posted a carousel of shots that included one of Mayer holding the birthday boy. “A really really special and joyous day,” the “Half of My Heart” singer wrote in the comments.

Earlier this week, Mayer appeared as a guest on Cohen’s talk show, Watch What Happens Live. To satisfy public curiosity about their friendship, the two men played a game in which they took turns saying things they love about each other for 30 seconds. “People love to pester John and me with questions about the inner workings of our friendship,” Cohen explained, then began the game by saying he loves Mayer’s “loyal” nature.

Mayer shared his appreciation for Cohen being “very caring,” and the dad of two joked, “I love your supple lips.” Mayer fired back, “I love your FaceTimes where you’re laying in bed in a hotel room and you’re bored.” Cohen said he likes the way Mayer expresses his emotions, and Mayer admitted his fondness of Cohen’s “bootleg Snoopy Louis Vuitton sweatshirt” and house in the Hamptons before the bit ended.

In 2022, Mayer also gave a heartfelt speech at Cohen’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction. “I love Andy more than I can tell you,” the “Gravity” singer said to the crowd, per People. “He’s a brilliant human being, a hilarious cohort, a loving son and brother — and more recently he’s become a proud, engaged, and deeply devoted father.” Ben and his little sister Lucy are lucky to have an excellent example of true friendship between these two stars!
