‘Luxury’ isn’t exactly what springs to mind when you think of Ryanair, but that’s what the budget airline is looking to offer as it reveals its corporate jet is back in service for winter.
The customised Boeing 737-700 aircraft is what we imagine Ryanair’s business class would look like – if it existed on the commercial routes.
Think bigger seats with extra leg room, a fine dining menu with complimentary drinks, and plenty of baggage allowance.
You can also forget queues at the boarding gates, as the aircraft only has 60 seats on board – this is a private jet after all.
But what else is different to Ryanair’s usual offering?
For a start, there’s baggage allowance.
Ryanair’s new cabin bag rules which came into effect this month, where passengers who want to bring a second bag will either need to pay £6 for priority boarding (£8 if you add this to your booking later) or can opt to pay £8 for a second bag of up to 10kg (there is also the usual option of £25 for a 20kg bag).
It seems that if you’re flying private, your hand luggage allowance restrictions are a little more lenient – and included in the ticket fares (even if these are sure to be much higher than Ryanair’s usual rates).
Each passenger can bring up to two bags of 20kg, one cabin bag weighing up to 10kg AND one small bag.
No need to resort to extreme measures to try and avoid extra fees.
Next, the seats. Although the same design as the ones you’ll be used to in Ryanair’s cabins, these ones RECLINE – unlike the ones in some of the airline’s commercial aircraft.
Passengers in the private jet will also have plenty of personal space thanks to the 48 inch seat pitch, extra leg room, and the 2×2 seat formation.
But it’s not just the seats where holidaymakers will find that extra touch of luxury – the food offering is pretty impressive too.
Like regular commercial passengers, private jet flyers will need to fork out extra for their meals and snacks – but the menu choice is a little more up-market.
You can choose from three ‘packages’ (see, meal deals) – Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Bronze packages start from £15 per passenger and will include hot drinks and snacks.
Silver packages start from £25 per passenger and will include hot and cold dishes, and a COMPLIMENTARY drink excluding spirits. (And the food choice ranges from a continental or hot breakfast, salads, gourmet sandwiches, fresh fruit and snacks.).
Go for Gold and you’ll see costs from £45 per passenger, to include a selection of hot dishes, a complimentary drink. Think a choice of Premium hot or cold breakfast,hot lunches and dinners, fresh fruit and snacks.
