Indian summer starts today as temperatures climb into 20s – but there’s bad news

Warm weather is tipped to make a comeback this week after a weekend of storms and autumnal chill is replaced by an ‘Indian summer’.

Temperatures could sweep back up into the 20s with dry, sunny spells in some parts of the country, the Met Office forecast.

Weather man Dean Hall said: “This week we see high pressure building – fine, dry, settled weather with sunny spells too.”

The south east will have the best of the weather but wind and rain will continue in the north.

Met Office meteorologist Dean Hall said a cold weather system was responsible for the cooler feel over the weekend but the week ahead should be warmer, drier and have sunny spells.

Temperatures over the week will begin to hit the average of around 15 degrees midweek.

He said: “This week we see high pressure building – fine, dry and settled weather with sunny spells too.”

He added temperatures today will be warmer than recent days.

Areas in the north of the UK could still see bad weather, though.

He said: “Bit of a different story for the north – certainly for the highlands we could see rainfall start to tally up.

“The north-west of the UK will be windy with some rain.”
