Mum posts candid snap of stretch marks to teach women to ‘love their bellies’

Most people have stretch marks, but few people would admit they love them.

One woman is on a mission to change this mindset.

Sarah Nicole Landry boasts over 2million followers on Instagram and she's known for sharing body positive advice, but her recent pictures are nothing short of stunning.

The proud mum recently posted some pictures that are unlike the snaps you usually come across on social media.

She shared close-ups of the stretch marks on her tummy, and admitted people would usually view them as "gross", but said they're actually pretty remarkable.

Sarah claimed mums need to remember they come from having a baby, and that's a pretty wonderful thing.

Writing on Instagram, Sarah said: "Growing a child or not does not validate a body or stretch marks.

"Omg postpartum compassion lasts for like 2 weeks and then it feels like expectation city.

"You can look like this 1 day after birth or 10 years. You can look like this without ever giving birth.

"Your body carrying your own life is just as valid as carrying another’s.

"The line between societal adoration and disgust is way thinner than we realise.

"It’s ok if you struggle with change, I do too, grief is a processing tool.

"I like your belly. Image from 2021 (but I still look the same, and that’s ok)."

Since she shared the post many people praised her for opening up about body image.

Fans also thought it was vital she drew attention to the fact you can have stretch marks even if you haven't had a baby.

Social media users thanked the mum for "honouring" women's bodies, and told her they thought she looked beautiful.

One person wrote: "I think it’s even more beautiful the way my wife looks although I understand she does not look the same, what she has done to bring our children in this world is remarkable."

Another added: "Nothing about either of those pictures is gross. You are a woman, your body is working as it should.

"You are beautiful, I never had kids and I have stretch marks. It's natural. Thank you for normalising this."

Meanwhile, a third commented: "You are making so many people feel so much more positive about their bodies through your posts. We appreciate you so much."
