Tommy Robinson tells Instagram followers ‘I’m never drinking again’ following boozy session after lavish lunch in Parliament

The English Defence League founder’s contempt of court case was sent to the Attorney General on Tuesday after which he was invited to dine with Ukip bigwig Lord Pearson in Parliament.

After addressing supporters outside the Old Bailey, the 35-year-old joined Pearson, Ukip leader Gerard Batten and Canadian right-wing reporter Ezra Levant for a three-course meal in the lavish Barry Room, beneath the Lords chamber.

They enjoyed a 2.5 hour silver service meal in the lavish Barry Room, beneath the Lords chamber, before a boozy session at the Red Lion pub in Whitehall.

In an Instagram post today Robinson – real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon – told his followers he was “never drinking again”.

But he denied the lunch was “boozy” and said he was "drinking water".

Ukip leader Batten tweeted: "It was no boozy lunch – the booze flowed at the Red Lion in Whitehall after lunch.

He added: “What better place to celebrate his release than in the very heart of the unelected, treacherous and treasonous Establishment that would like nothing better than to shut up people like Mr Robinson.

“We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”

Robinson was freed from prison in August when appeal judges threw out an earlier contempt of court finding against him.

He must wait to find out if the case will return to the High Court.

He was released on bail.

In a message to his fans, outspoken Robinson said: “I believe that with this support that's been shown the Attorney General will kick this into the long grass."

He told The Sun later: "I don't know how long they think they can hang this over my head."

Commons Speaker John Bercow labelled Robinson a "loathsome, obnoxious, repellent individual", after photos emerged of him dining in Parliament.

SNP’s Stewart McDonald described the ex-EDL leader as a "violent, racist thug and fraudster" who he said should not be "invited to walk amongst us on the parliamentary estate".

Former Tory Chief Whip Mark Harper said: "The founder of an organisation such as the EDL has no place in a building which is the home of parliamentary democracy."
