Strictly: Amanda and Giovanni on judges scores
Strictly Come Dancing favourite Giovanni Pernice has weighed in following claims he and celebrity partner Amanda Abbington were “undermarked” for their Rumba on Saturday.
Italian dancer Giovanni hinted he agreed with comments from the public that he and Amanda deserved a higher score.
Appearing on Monday’s Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two, the 33-year-old was asked by BBC host Fleur East to give his view.
“Let’s get into the dirt now,” Fleur stated, continuing: “So you got eights from the judges, Craig [Revel Horwood] gave you a six…
“The public felt that you were undermarked.”

“Let’s take a look at the socials,” she added before showing one viewer’s remark that the couple should have received higher marks.
As Amanda thanked the fan, Fleur asked Giovanni: “Do you think you were undermarked?”
“Um, I’m not saying I was undermarked,” the dancer responded.
“All I’m saying is if I was a judge, I would have done much better than what Craig did.”

He went on: “But that’s my own opinion and every week is a different dance.
“We go there, we try to do our best, and hope the judges like it.
“Three of them did… One of them didn’t like it very much, but what are we going to do?”
“You can’t please all the people all the time,” Amanda interjected.
“Yeah, but that Rumba wasn’t a six, to be honest,” argued Giovanni.
“No, I didn’t feel that, to be honest we worked really hard, it didn’t feel like a six,” Amanda agreed.
“It could have been a seven,” Giovanni added before Fleur stated: “Well, do you know what guys? Let’s move on, let’s move on!”
“It doesn’t matter, yeah,” Amanda commented.
“The Foxtrot this week – to this!” Fleur revealed as Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere played in the studio.
Amanda explained she was “excited” to tackle another Ballroom dance as Giovanni admitted he has a lot of confidence in his dance partner.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
