They're known for a shared love of sport as well as a bit of healthy competition, so the Prince and Princess of Wales wasted no time in getting stuck into a mountain biking challenge on a trip to Scotland.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when visiting Scotland, have been spending the day in Burghead, Moray and Inverness and looked thrilled at the chance to get competitive with each other again.
On the Prince and Princess's schedule for the day were three visits – to Outfit Moray, Brodieshill Farm and the DAY1 mentoring charity, all of which were perfectly suited to the outdoorsy, charity-minded couple.
Looking chic in a checked Barbour jacket and black flared jeans, Kate added a bike helmet to her outfit and laughed as she took on the charity's mountain biking obstacle course.
The Royal couple have often been seen embracing their competitive side on official visits and on Thursday, it looked like Kate had won the challenge as she struck out ahead of husband William on the bike track.
William and Kate rode over a series of wooden obstacles, including a tipping plank, and looked like they could not have been enjoying their visit any more.
Outfit Moray is a charity offering young people and their families accessible, affordable outdoor learning and adventure, and as well as biking they run activities including water sports, bushcraft and first aid training.
The couple were also due to meet the Lower Speyside Young Farmers at Brodieshill Farm, a group who provide socialising opportunities for its young members in rural, often lonely, areas and work to support each others' mental health.
Inverness charity DAY1 is the final stop on their day tour, an organisation that offers mentoring, personal development and employment support to vulnerable young people.
DAY1 also owns the Inverness Kart Raceway, which could offer William and Kate further opportunity to go head to head in a challenge.
Last month, sporty Kate tried out wheelchair rugby on a visit to Hull and back in February, she and William got competitive in a spin-bike race on a visit to Wales.
They've also been known to challenge each other in table tennis, rugby and while dancing on royal visits.
Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla are currently on a visit to Kenya where they were put to work at an elephant sanctuary as they fed bottles of milk to baby elephants.
