Harry and Meghan ‘lifting lid on royals’ could turn them into ‘next Kardashians’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sparked controversy after it was confirmed that their documentary would be released on Netflix.

The pair vowed to tell their own story as they opened up about their relationship and their decision to step back as senior members of the Royal Family.

The couple left the UK in 2020 and moved to the US and ultimately became neighbours and close pals with multiple A-list stars – and PR expert Rochelle White believes they could take a very "Hollywood" approach in their next steps.

With The Kardashians sharing their own behind-the-scenes insight into their life on a regular basis, Rochelle believes they could follow suit with the royals.

Rochelle said the pair will "divide" the public because of the documentary, with mixed views and opinions already surrounding the duo.

She stated that Meghan and Harry come under a lot of scrutiny and was bound to cause controversy – but there is a great PR move that can follow the Netflix gig.

The expert said: "This is a time for them to tell their story, their side in a way that is authentic to them, just like any brand does with their marketing and PR. However, much of the general public have and continue to make judgements and not give them a chance.

"But this is great PR for not only Harry and Meghan but also for Netflix, I can imagine that the viewership of this season premier will be massive and even drive subscriptions."

There could be a potential to turn the show into another mini series as viewers want to "see Harry and Meghan in a real way", which gives them potential to follow suit with the Kardashians.

Rochelle explained: "People love reality TV and seeing a side of people that they don’t have access to. The Kardashian’s have really been the forefront and leader in this.

"Because Harry and Meghan are not as public and leave an elusive life with only snippets being shared, this could be a recipe for building a fly on the wall documentary and seeing behind the scenes."

She said that by "lifting the lid" on royals it will spark more interest from viewers and ultimately could see the pair land their own TV show.
