Dancing On Ice's Jane Danson FAINTS in rehearsals as paramedics carry her off on a stretcher

The 40-year-old Coronation Street actress suffered a horror fall ahead of the live show, which starts in just a few hours' time, and had to be stretchered off.

An ITV spokesman explained: "Jane fainted earlier today on the ice during a rehearsal for this evening's live show.

"She has been assessed by show medics and is now resting ahead of the performance."

These shocking pictures show how the star, seemingly unconscious, was strapped into an orange spine-protecting stretcher.

She was then lifted off the rink by the show's team of medical experts.

It is not known whether Jane, who plays Leanne Battersby in Corrie, will be well enough to perform with partner Sylvain Longchambon.

However, show reps hinted that she would, insisting: "This evening all of the celebrities take to the ice to perform in Fairytale week."

The show goes live at 6pm this afternoon with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announcing the return of the magical challenge for the nine remaining celebrity skaters.

Fans have been quick to send their good wishes to Jane, posting: "Awe .. Hope she's ok Genuine lovely Lass… ❤????."

Another wrote on The Sun's Facebook page: "Omg hope she will be ok ?."

A third warned: "I think she is overworking herself she said she still does Corrie it's to much for the body either one or other !"

Jane has been embroiled in a war of words with Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner lately, after his criticism of her skating.

The 47-year-old judge remarked that the actress "wanted to go out" as her performance "lacked dance content".

Jane performed a cowboy style routine to Kylie Minogue's song, Dancing. However her lifts and line dancing on ice didn't impress Jason, who gave her a bitter critique after awarding her the lowest score.

He said: "Do you want to go out Jane Danson, because that lacked a lot of dance content for me and the dance that you did do was very basic, which is why I understand why you put all that production in to mask the fact that there wasn't a hell of a lot going on."

Jane wasn't ready to take the comments lightly, hitting back: "Well you know what, I always tell my kids to do the best you can do.

"I did the best I could tonight and I take your comment totally on board, I did my best and it wasn't good enough, but hey."

However, clearly wanting to have the last word, Jason replied: "But you can improve and it's not good enough, you're still not hitting things properly and hitting lines that you should, because your postural lines are terrible. Fix it."
