Big Brother is back! Return date for iconic show reboot is nearly here

Iconic reality show Big Brother is making its return to our screens this year, five years after it was axed.

ITV has picked up the show, after it was previously shown on Channel 4 and Channel 5. The start date has finally been revealed – and it's just weeks away, on 8 October.

The news was announced on Monday, 25 September by ITV on Instagram, as they shared a snap of the iconic Big Brother eye, decorated in multicoloured patters, with the date underneath it.

The caption read: "Mark your calendars… Big Brother is coming. 8/10/2023 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX #BBUK @bbuk @ajodudu @iamwillbest."

Whilst the show was previously fronted by Davina McCall, it's back with brand new presenters in the form of AJ Odudu and Will Best.

Fans were thrilled at the news that the show is returning so soon, as they rushed to comment on the post. One said: "Omfg, I can't wait!!!," whilst another commented: "I can't wait.I love Big Brother I've missed it so much."

A third wrote: "IM SO EXCITED !!!!!!," as a fourth said: "I can’t wait . Missed this show so much."

Big Brother sees people from all walks of life enter a house where they will live together in a huge house – details of which were recently revealed to the public – as part of a social experiment.

Big Brother: The Launch will air on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX in a disruptive multi-channel and streaming takeover, whilst the remainder of the series will be available each night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX – except for Saturdays.

There will also be an additional show each night, which follows the main show, named Big Brother: Late & Live, which will be hosted live by AJ Odudu and Will Best.

This will take place in front of the Big Brother house in front of a studio audience.

There will also be a Big Brother: Live Stream, where Big Brother super fans can continue watching the housemates after the main shows.

Excitement has been building for the return of the show, after hosts AJ and Will starred in the first trailer for it.

They could be seen standing in a dressing room as AJ could be heard doing an impression of show's Geordie narrator Marcus Bentley, who's voice has become as iconic as the show itself, after he narrated all 19 of its series so far.

AJ says, in an attempt at Marcus' accent: "8:49PM AJ and Will are getting ready to go into the Big Brother house," before Will copies her. Marcus' voice then fills the room, as he says: "8:49PM AJ and Will should stick to presenting. Big Brother sees it all."
