The incident, which could have been fatal, happened in the Indian town of Dwarka during the Shireshwar Carnival in the northwestern Indian state of Gujarat.

The panicked woman was left trapped and unable to move an inch after her hair became stuck in part of the Ferris wheel above her head.

The woman was eventually released after her rescuers managed to disentangle her hair. Locals said they managed to cut her hair using a knife.

It follows a series of similar incidents at amusement parks across India, with many angry locals calling for strict safety regulations.

‘The lady was writhing in pain. Who will be held accountable for this unfortunate incident,’ Pramod Kumar, who watched the chaotic scenes unfold, told the Sun.

‘I hope we learn a lesson from these incidents and such incidents won’t take place in the near future.’

In April, a 20-year-old university student was killed after her hair got entangled in the rotator shaft of a Ferris wheel.

Priyanka Bauri was dragged from her seat after her hair got caught, with local reports saying she was suspended by her locks for nearly a minute before her body fell to the ground.

Reports say her hair and the skin covering her head had remained entangled in the rotator shaft while her body hit the ground with a sickening thud.

And in 2016, a traumatised schoolgirl lost all of her hair in a horrific scalping accident on a Ferris wheel in India.

The girl had been trying to take a selfie beside the Ferris wheel before her hair got caught in the ride outside a college in Baraut, a small city just over 40 miles north of Delhi.

Her hair got entangled in the large spinning wheel and was slowly ripped completely off.
