Fridge freezers are essential in today's kitchens, offering a compact way to store and preserve food that doesn't take up too much space.
Because of their importance, getting the right one is key – and not always easy, given the amount of choice. All the big tech brands seem to offer their own fridge freezers, from LG, Samsung, SMEG, and Bosch.
Once you factor in the decision as to how much fridge or freezer space you and your family need, plus which colour you want your shiny new appliance in, things can get a little complicated.
As you'd imagine, there's a wide range of prices too – with models starting from £200 and stretching into the thousands, so your decision may simply come down to price and affordability.
Thankfully, we've rounded up some of the best fridges under £300 below, as well as some of the finest offerings we've found regardless of budget – so whether you've been saving for a while or your machine has packed up suddenly, you're covered.
Shopping around for home appliances isn't necessarily easy, and it can also be a slog if you need to travel around visiting the likes of Currys, John Lewis, Argos and some of the online-only retailers like AO.com and Amazon.

Best Fridge Freezers 2020
1) HAIER HRF-450DS6
Haier may not be a brand that you're familiar with, but if this model is anything to go by – it won't be long until you are. It's not only good looking (at least as far as fridge freezers go), but has a whopping 177-litre capacity.
It's packed with clever tech, too – like frost-free freezing (say that ten times fast), rapid cooling, and full air circulation in both the fridge and freezer sections.
Price: £529 from Amazon – Buy here now
2) Bosch KGN34VB35G
Perennial appliance makers Bosch have outdone themselves with this model, which packs 319-litre capacity into a surprisingly svelte form-factor – the downside being a lack of door storage.
If you can look past that though you'll find a stylish, good value fridge freezer with "NoFrost" tech in the freezer and constant air circulation throughout.
Price: £529 from John Lewis – Buy here now
3) BEKO CSG1571W
What this BEKO lacks in style, it more than makes up for in functionality. It's not the best looking fridge freezer (which, again, feels like a strange thing to say), but offers plenty of utility at a low price.
It's a 60/40 split favouring the fridge, with LED lighting, reversible doors, and adjustable shelves. It doesn't make a statement, but it'll do a job!
Price: £249 from Currys – Buy here now
4) GRUNDIG GKN16220DZ
This tall, dark and handsome fridge freezer offers a 70/30 split, which means it won't be for everyone (namely those that do a lot of freezing).
It offers something called Duo Cooling, which keeps the airflow from the fridge and freezer sections separate from each other – thereby preventing the same recycled air causing a smell between them. It also has a non-plumbed water dispenser and frost-free freezing.
Price: £629 from Currys – Buy here now
5) Liebherr CNel4713
Set on a 50/50 split? This could be the fridge freezer for you, provided you've got a high enough ceiling as this unit is very tall.
If you can get it into your kitchen, though, it's impressively spacious and has a nice clean look to it. It's ice-free and uses "VarioSpace" drawers to accommodate your food.
Price: £469 from AO.com – Buy here now
6) Samsung RB Combi Range RB29FWRNDSS
A great looking fridge freezer from a very reputable brand, this Samsung model has a 290-litre capacity – bigger than your average fridge freezer.
It looks great, and it'll even fix you a drink – if that drink is non-plumbed water, that is.

Best Fridge Freezers From CES 2020
If you're not desperate for a fridge right now, why not consider holding fire until some of the new models shown off at CES are released?
The Consumer Electronics Show had some stunning new appliances shown, many of which include smart home functionality. Samsung, in particular, are looking to launch Family Hub refrigerators which offer voice control and can read you the news, or show you the weather using the large display at the front.
You can even personalise it based on family member, and use it to call yourself an Uber. Which is handy if you've just spotted that there's no milk in the fridge and the shop is a way away.
LG, on the other hand, has gone off the deep end – offering a new Instaview panel that allows you to see what's in your fridge that can also be used as a screen, while there's a new ice-maker that creates spherical ice cubes that melt slower than regular ice.
Finally, these LG smart fridge freezers can even keep a track of what's inside and what's been used. What a time to be alive
