Mobile video streaming has exploded over the last year and it’s only growing as we get out and about with the lifting of lockdown. According to EE, its customers streamed 1.3 million extra hours of HD video in July compared to May this year.

That’s why the mobile network has introduced a whole host of new benefits for customers on its Smart and Full Works Plans to help them binge on endless hours of video content.

EE’s Smart benefits scheme already included Apple Music, BT Sports, roaming abroad and a video data pass that let users watch video without using any data. Now, it has added the original and best streaming service, Netflix, as a choice.

Customers who choose Netflix as a benefit can access a Netflix Basic plan worth £5.99 for free, which lets you watch shows and movies in standard definition one just one device. For an extra £4 a month, that will be upgraded to a Standard plan, offering HD streaming and downloads to two devices, while £8 extra will get a Premium plan with UHD content and access for four devices.

It gets even better for Android customers. EE’s Full Works plan, which allows access to three Smart benefits, was previously only available to Apple customers. It’s now been expanded to include Android users, allowing them to choose free subscriptions to Netflix, Apple Music and BT Sport – saving a whopping £25 per month.

Already got a Netflix account? No need to worry – EE promises the setup will be “seamless” and allow you to keep your existing account.

Netflix users across UK report issues with streaming service

haron Meadows, Director of Propositions, EE said: “We’re constantly looking for ways to offer our customers the best experience when using our award-winning network and as part of this we look to partner with the most innovative companies in the world.

“By joining forces with Netflix, customers will now be able to access a wealth of high quality video content in more places than any other network. We’re also extending our Full Works plan, so customers with Android smartphones can experience the very best of what EE has to offer in one convenient mobile package.”

The deals are available from today across EE’s website, shops and telesales. Smart plan customers can choose one benefit, while Full Works users will get three.

So far, EE is the only major UK network to offer a Netflix subscription as part of its phone plans. O2 bundles include Amazon Music, Prime Video, Audible and Calm subscriptions, while Vodafone offers discounts on high street shops and local restaurants.
