The wig-wearing Daily Star lettuce undoubtedly captured hearts and minds around the world as Liz Truss' disastrous 44-day stint in office came crashing to a halt. Tens of thousands of people were glued to the Daily Star's livestream to see who would wilt first.
On the eve of its victory over outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss, the lettuce said: "I came into office at a time of great e-kale-nomic instability but after an unbe-leaf-able campaign, I am thrilled to have been crowned victorious in these chard times."
