Xavi confirms Barcelona will sell Ousmane Dembele in January if he doesn't sign new deal amid Man Utd transfer interest

XAVI has told Manchester United target Ousmane Dembele to renew his contract or leave – as Barcelona 'can't wait any longer'.

Dembele's agent Moussa Sissoko claims Barca are 'losing' the France winger due to their blunt attitude but admits the 24-year-old has 'high demands' on pay.

Now Nou Camp boss Xavi says he has made it clear to Dembele that this month's transfer window is his D-Day.

Ex-Borussia Dortmund hero Dembele reportedly wants a staggering £700,000 a week, whereas it's thought Barcelona want him to REDUCE his current weekly £210,000k salary.

Xavi said: "What I can say is that we are in a complex and difficult situation.

"The club has decided that if he does not renew we have to make a decision with him.

"It's not easy but Mateu Alemany (Barca chief executive) has been negotiating with his representative for five months and we can't wait any longer."

Club legend Xavi has no doubts Dembele realises he must decide urgently.

He added: "I have been very honest with him. It is not an easy situation, but a decision must be made.

"The first thing is the interests of the club, that must be clear.

"He has the upper hand, but that doesn't include the option of sending him to the stands."

Dembele has regularly under-performed since his £135million arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

And Xavi was ‘speechless’ when he heard of the wideman's pay demands.

In contrast, Sissoko said: "They're putting the pressure on, but it doesn't work with people like us.

"Maybe it works with agents who are close to Barcelona. That's not the case with me, I'm here to defend my player's interests.

'Yes, we have high demands, but we've shown in the past that Ousmane's career choices are not dictated by money, else he wouldn't be here."

Dembele has often been linked with Old Trafford, although such talk has cooled since last summer when England winger Jadon Sancho joined United for £73m from Dortmund.
