The Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox will start one of the most highly anticipated World Series in recent years Tuesday night at historic Fenway Park in Boston.
But here are five simple reasons why it’s not going to last that long.
1. The Red Sox won 108 games this year
Boston was far and away the best team in baseball all season long and finished with a franchise-record 108 wins. Here’s some perspective as to how much better they were than everyone else: The Yankees won 100 games this year and finished eight games back in the AL East. The Red Sox have stayed hot in the playoffs and will continue to be the best team in baseball on the game’s biggest stage.

First, the Red Sox first took down the rival Yankees in four games, including a 16-1 pounding in Game 3 in the Bronx. Then after dropping the first game of the ALCS at home to the defending-champion Astros, who had 103 wins this season, the Red Sox reeled off four straight wins, including three on the road, to wrap up the series in just five games. Two teams with 100 wins or more and all they could do was win a combined two games against the Red Sox. That says a lot about how good this team is.
3. The Dodgers won only 92 games this year
Some perspective: The Red Sox won their 92nd game of the season on August 29th. The Dodgers, who won the NL West by a game, would have finished in third, just two games ahead of the Rays, if they played in the AL East. Six teams – Red Sox, Astros, Yankees, A’s, Cubs, and Brewers – all finished with more wins than the Dodgers. A 92-win team should be considered a huge underdog to a team that won 108 games, and that’s exactly what they are.
4. The Red Sox have the best lineup in baseball
