A busy train descended into chaos when travellers spotted an unsuspected passenger onboard.

The train, travelling between Leeds train station and Shipley, erupted into mayhem after people noticed a snake.

Unlike in the 2006 horror movie 'Snakes on a Plane', this snake was travelling solo and kept largely to itself.

The animal, believed to be a corn snake, was spotted near the doors of the train.

While corn snakes aren't venomous they can bite when stressed so wisely the public gave the creature a lot of space.

One passenger snapped a photo and shared it online in a tweet, which quickly went viral, leaving people in disbelief.

soph_johnstone tweeted: "Chaotic scenes on the Shipley to Leeds train. Snake moves. Carriage moves. OH LORD there is an actual SNAKE on this train."

According to Leeds Live, hundreds of people have commented on the photo, with some claiming they would have “locked themselves in the toilet” if it had been on their train.

The snake is now reportedly being looked after by RSPCA.
