The Queen is hiring someone to give tours of Buckingham Palace and you’ll earn £10.50 per hour to snoop around her house – The Sun

IF you think you've got what it takes to work for the Queen, now could be your time to shine.

Her Maj is recruiting a full-time "Visitor Services Assistant" at Buckingham Palace, where you'll be paid £10.55 per hour to give tours and assist with public visits.

The role will be based in Buckingham Palace as part of an enthusiastic team helping visitors have an unforgettable experience at the Queen's home.

You will engage with guests, answer questions and provide information as well as delivering "first class" tours during the summer opening of the State Rooms, The Queen's Gallery and the Royal Mews.

For this reason, the role is on a fixed term contract of six months, starting in March 2020 and finishing in October.

As part of the Visitor Services team, the right person will offer a friendly welcome to visitors as well as engaging with the public to enhance their visit, appreciation and understanding of the Royal Collection – one of the largest art collections in the world – and the Palaces.

In the role, they will have a vast knowledge of the Royal Collection, Palaces and the Royal Household, as well as the local area and will share this knowledge with visitors.

They will also deliver exceptional guided tours and short talks, ensure safety and security and act as a role model for new members of the team.

Other responsibilities will include checking tickets, carrying out security checks, operating the cloakroom and distributing guides.

The Visitor Services Assistant will support the Assistant Visitor Services Manager as well as the Visitor Services Manager in setting up and running other events including receptions, press events and other tours.

While the job is based at Buckingham Palace, some travel may be required.

You may also be requested to work longer hours as well as mornings and evenings to accommodate evening tours and other events.

The job description notes the role is also "physically demanding" due to standing up for long periods and walking from site to site.

And the Queen is looking for someone with a warm, friendly and professional manner as well as someone who has confident communication and presentation skills.

The right candidate will also have the ability to research and develop information for guided tours and talks as well as being able to build relationships with visitors.

They will also be reliable and flexible as well as having a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Applications will close on November 24 at 23:55pm and you can apply at The Royal Household website.
