Not in charge! Sharing a selfie on Instagram, she penned a caption over the top: ‘To the “mature” guy who told me after we met that if he’d known I had a 15-year-old son living with me, he “maybe” wouldn’t have met me #shameonyou’

‘The reason I thought this is because I had not had sex for four and half years. And the time before that was four years prior. I was living in a sexless marriage for nearly a decade. It felt like part of my life was over.

The news comes after Ulrika  criticised Davina McCall’s new middle-aged dating show My Mum, Your Dad for playing it safe and not being ‘glamorous’ enough.

The new ITV programme, which kicked off on Monday, sees eight single parents arrive at a West Sussex country mansion in a bid to find their second chance at love.

And there is a huge twist as their adult children are told that they will watch their parents’ every moves from a nearby bunker and play matchmaker over two weeks.

But Ulrika criticised the show’s concept ahead of its launch, arguing that single parents don’t need their children controlling their dating lives.

She said the concept sends a ‘shiver’ down her spine to think about handing the dating reins over to her children.

Ulrika said it is ‘tough luck’ if her children do not approve of her dating decisions as she called for more excitement on the dating show.

She wrote in The Sun: ‘[My children] might not like the idea of me dating or some of the choices I make, but that’s just tough luck, I’ve dedicated the past 30 years to them — now it’s my time.

Slammed: The news comes after Ulrika criticised Davina McCall ‘s new middle-aged dating show My Mum, Your Dad for playing it safe and not being ‘glamorous’ enough

‘The very idea that one or all of them should decide who I date sends a shiver down my spine.’

Ulrika criticised My Mum, Your Dad for being too safe as she said her children would probably choose a ‘Dull Derek’ for her, rather than a ‘heart-stopping’ romance.

She went on: ‘I want someone who sets my world alight and is prepared to go skinny-dipping with me at stupid o’clock.

‘I rage against the ongoing narrative that once we’re in mid-life, all we want is a quiet life. We don’t.’

She called for the show to have some more ‘glitz and glamour’ as she called for a more lively middle-aged dating show, arguing that the concept is ‘patronising’.

Ulrika has been single since her 2019 divorce from third husband Brian Monet after the pair parted ways after ten years together. They have one son, Malcolm.
