“It’s real acrobatics,” J.Lo said in a video she posted to her Instagram yesterday, “but I’m just trying to learn the mechanics right now because strippers have lots of time to practice.”
The acrobatic activity the singer referred to was pole dancing, a mainstay for her leading role in the forthcoming movie, Hustlers. While the trailer makes the “Jenny from the Block” singer look like an inherent professional, the behind-the-scenes Instagram video revealed some of the backbreaking work Lopez did to get there.
“I mean, this is just as hard as anything I’ve ever learned,” she says in the video, in between shots of her twisting herself around a pole set up in a living room. She added, “It might be one of the hardest.”

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” J.Lo additionally wrote in the caption. “This was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done physically. But it was all worth it in the end.”
Hustlers–which includes the star-studded cast of Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lizzo, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, and more–will be released in theaters on September 13.
