RACING really went up a gear on Friday with some classy action from the likes of Haydock and Ascot.

Filly to follow ?
Ralph Beckett unveiled a smart prospect for the future when Heart Reef made her debut at Haydock.
The filly, by Australia, was as green as the grass she was running on but only had to be pushed out under in-form Tom Marquand to win. There should be plenty more to come from her.
Classic Spencer ?
Jamie Spencer was at it again today. The top jockey just loves to play with his opposition and he did just that with Bless Him who absolutely bolted up at Ascot.
He could have won by half the track but Spencer was content to let him canter home in his hands. Only Jamie Spencer.
