Henry Cavill weighs in on James Bond, black Superman, and The Witcher

Henry Cavill weighs in on James Bond, black Superman, and The Witcher season two… as his girlfriend Natalie Viscuso gushes he’s ‘the greatest man I have ever known’

Henry Cavill might have been turned down for the role of James Bond back in 2005 for looking too young but, now that Daniel Craig has exited the 007 franchise, he finds the idea ‘very exciting.’

‘I think it would be very exciting to have a conversation with the producers,’ the British 38-year-old said in his THR Magazine cover story on Wednesday.

‘In an ideal world, I’d never have to turn anything down. Nothing is off the table. It’s an honor to even be part of that conversation.’

In the meantime, Henry has been shooting his role as a world-class spy suffering from amnesia in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle for Apple TV+ alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.

‘I needed someone who was born to play Bond – which Henry is – and then nick him before Bond did,’ the 50-year-old filmmaker told the mag.

‘He plays a larger-than-life action hero with a wink. It’s very different from Kingsman.’

And while Cavill feels there’s ‘still a lot of storytelling for me to do as a Superman,’ he did weigh in on the development of a black Superman film announced in May.

‘It’s exciting – Superman’s far more than skin color,’ said the Zack Snyder’s Justice League star, who was the first non-American actor to play Clark Kent.

‘Superman is an ideal. Superman’s an extraordinary thing that lives within our hearts. Why not have multiple Supermen going on? Joaquin Phoenix did a wonderful Joker movie; so what if it’s not tied to the rest of [the franchise]? They have multiple Superman comic book storylines happening at the same time.’

Henry reportedly scored $1M per episode to reprise his role as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia in the eight-episode second season of The Witcher, which premieres December 17 on Netflix.

And while Cavill is happy to show off his eight-pack abs in the fantasy drama, don’t expect any nude scenes.

‘It would have to be particular, it would have to be specific to the storytelling. I would say there’s not the space for it,’ the 6ft2in action star noted.

‘I enjoy being in the best shape of my life, year after year, despite the injuries. I want to be pushed so I can get better. I don’t want to sit down.’

Henry has also been filming Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2 in England alongside Millie Bobby Brown and he reportedly scored a $5M paycheck to star in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot.

‘Enola goes out into the world and has more interaction with [Sherlock] now that she’s established herself as a character,’ Cavill teased.

‘We dive deeper into their relationship.’

The South Kensington resident’s girlfriend since April, Natalie Viscuso, was ‘literally crying’ on Wednesday after reading his THR cover story.

‘I am so, so proud of you, Henry. You truly are the greatest man I have ever known,’ the New Mexico-born, Cali-raised 32-year-old gushed on Instagram.

‘The Hollywood Reporter did an incredible job with this cover story – it really is a great read. So proud I’m literally crying.’

Natalie works as the VP of TV and digital studios for Legendary Entertainment, which is the company behind Henry’s projects Man of Steel and Enola Holmes.

Viscuso is also a bit problematic having apologized in June for a blackface-style photo and she was previously employed by convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein from 2017-2018.

Cavill is ‘very happy in love’ with his ‘beautiful and brilliant love’ perhaps best known for starring in a 2005 episode of MTV reality show My Super Sweet 16.
