Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi 'plan a move to Australia'

Rumours swirl Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi are planning to move to Australia – as she decides to end her talk show after its 19 season

Ellen DeGeneres is rumoured to be planning a move Down Under with her Australian wife Portia de Rossi once her talk show ends its 19-season run next year.

The couple, who married in 2008, reportedly want to swap the bright lights of Hollywood for a quieter life on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, just an hour from Melbourne.

‘There really is no choice in the matter. It’s either Australia or bust for Portia and Ellen,’ a source told New Idea magazine on Monday.

If Ellen, 63, and Portia, 48, do end up leaving California for the land Down Under, they will be in good company.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky quit Hollywood for good in 2014, setting up home in Byron Bay, a trendy coastal town in northern New South Wales.

More recently, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher relocated to Sydney with their children late last year, after spending years living in LA.

Ellen revealed earlier this month she was ending her once-successful daytime talk show, following allegations last year she allowed a toxic work environment to flourish behind the scenes.

She will wrap up the Emmy-winning program after its upcoming 19th season in 2022.

‘Today I’m announcing that next season, season 19, is going to be my last season,’ she told viewers.

‘The past 18 years … has changed my life. You all have changed my life. I am forever grateful to all of you for watching, for laughing, for dancing — sometimes crying.’
