A young woman was taken to hospital after reports of a rape in Liverpool city centre – as police released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.
The victim reported a serious sexual assault at a premises on Victoria Street at around 5.30pm on Sunday, January 29.
Police arrived at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital. She is being supported by specialist officers.
Detectives have confirmed an investigation has begun and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out.
Merseyside police has released an image of a man they believe may have information that can help the investigation.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: ‘We think the man pictured may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward as soon as possible.
‘If you recognise him, or this image jogs your memory about any suspicious behaviour you may have seen in the area on Sunday 29 January please do let us know.
‘We understand the concern that such serious offences can cause and I want to assure people we are assessing all possible evidence to establish what happened.
