Two people dead after light aircraft crashes into field in Oxfordshire

TWO people have died after a light aircraft crashed into a field in Oxfordshire.

The pilot and passenger were both declared dead at the scene in Stonor at around 2.10pm yesterday.

Cops confirmed next of kin have been informed and said no one else was travelling in the aircraft at the time.

There were no injuries on the ground after the plane crashed.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "Officers are currently near Henley-on-Thames, following an aircraft crash.

"Thames Valley Police received reports at around 2.10pm yesterday (24/8) that a light aircraft had crashed in a field in the area of Stonor.

"The fire service and ambulance service also attended the scene.

"The Air Accidents Investigation Branch were informed and Thames Valley Police is assisting with the initial investigation."

The AAIB confirmed they had sent a team to investigate the crash.
