Son of slain crime boss guilty of murder over Love Machine shootings

The son of slain crime boss Nabil Maghnie has been found guilty of murder over a revenge-driven shooting that killed two men outside a Melbourne nightclub.

Jacob Elliott fired four shots from a semi-automatic handgun at people standing outside Love Machine, in Prahran, as he and friend Allan Fares drove past in a stolen Porsche SUV about 3.15am on April 14, 2019.

Aaron Khalid Osmani (left) and Richard Arow died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Security guard Aaron Khalid Osmani and patron Richard Arow were both shot in the head and died later in hospital, while another security staffer was hit in the right shoulder and two patrons suffered wounds to their forearms when hit by the same bullet.

The shooting came hours after Elliott’s half-brother, Ali Maghnie, was thrown out of the nightclub for poor behaviour, after which he complained to their father, Nabil Maghnie, that security guards “kicked the f— out of me” in the street.

Elliott, 21, was on Thursday found guilty of two charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one of intentionally causing serious injury by a Supreme Court jury that deliberated over six days from last week.
