Shocking moment dog attacks police horse before mounted officer is thrown from her saddle

This is the shocking moment when a dog attacked a police horse before a mounted officer was thrown from her saddle.

An aggressive dog was wildly out of control in Maroon Street, Limehouse, east London, on Friday.

Footage captured by witnesses and posted on social media, shows the fiend chasing and attacking a police horse.

The hound was so aggressive that it startled the horse which led the female constable who was riding it to be thrown from her saddle.

Fortunately, the officer’s injuries were described police as ‘minor’.

According to The Sun, the owner, who is believed to be a 12-year-old, tried to run after the tan Staffy mix as it attacked the horse.

After the canine was trodden on by the horse, officers were able to tame and seize the dog.

The frightened horse who had injuries to its legs attempted to flee before officers were able to reclaim the animal.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘At around 1650hrs on Friday, 18 August, two mounted police officers were on routine duties in Maroon Street, E14 when one of the police horses was bitten by a dog which ran out from a nearby house.

‘The rider of the horse, a police constable, was unseated and sustained a minor injury. She did not require hospital treatment.

‘The police horse sustained injuries to its leg. It bolted from the scene but was recovered by officers a short distance away with no further incident.

‘The dog received a minor injury as a result of being trodden on by the horse.

‘Both animals have been assessed by a police vet and neither was seriously hurt. The dog remains at police kennels.

‘An offence of ‘a dog being dangerously out of control’ has been recorded. There has been no arrest at this stage.’
