Serial killer Joanna Dennehy sent love letters to male prison officer

Serial killer Joanna Dennehy sent ‘graphic’ love letters to ‘senior’ male prison officer which were found by police raiding his home as they investigated alleged relationship with another female prisoner

  • Dennehy, mother-of-two, is serving a whole-life prison term for killing three men
  • Romance came to light when ‘quite senior’ officer, 50s, had his home searched

A prison officer has received a series of love letters from Britain’s most dangerous female prisoner.

Joanna Dennehy, who is serving life in prison for killing three men, wrote ‘graphic’ letters to the male officer at HMP Bronzefield near Ashford, Surrey.

But the romance only came to light after the officer was being investigated for an alleged inappropriate relationship with another female prisoner.

Police who raided his home were said to be shocked to discover the passionate notes from Dennehy.

A source told The Sun the officer, in his 50s, was ‘quite senior’, ‘very cocksure’ and could ‘move around various wings, including the one where Dennehy is housed.’

They added: ‘It’s surprising she was writing to a man as she has said she wants to marry a woman.’

It is understood the officer, who is under investigation on suspicion of sexual assault, lives just ten miles from HMP Bronzefield.

A spokesperson for HMP Bronzefield said: ‘While we do not comment on individual cases, we can confirm that this person no longer works for us.’

The prison, which is the largest female prison in Europe, has held a number of infamous murderers including Rosemary West.

Alongside West, mother-of-two Dennehy is the only other woman in Britain to be serving a whole-life prison term.

Joanna Dennehy, 38, is one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers who murdered three men in Peterborough in March 2013.

Her victims were all murdered over a ten-day period and found in ditches in Cambridgeshire.

Dennehy’s first victim was housemate Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, who she allegedly convinced to meet her implying they would have sex.

The following week she stabbed to death 56-year-old Falklands veteran John Chapman, also believed to be a housemate.

Her final victim was her 48-year-old landlord Kevin Lee.

Dennehy also recruited an accomplice, Gary Stretch, who she was said to have ‘cast a spell over’.

The pair drove to Hereford where Dennehy stabbed two more men, who both survived.

Stretch was later jailed for life after he was found guilty of attempted murder.

In January 2017 Dennehy’s mum, Kathleen, told a documentary team that her daughter was a sensitive child growing up.

She told the Crime + Investigation channel: ‘She was very sensitive. If she stood on a worm or something she would be really upset if it died – she used to take them to bed with her. So she was a loving girl.

‘She was polite to everybody. Teachers always said that she was a nice girl.’
