A DECOMPOSED body has been found inside the charred wreckage of a house blaze after neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the property.
Cops in Phenix Park, Alabama made the shocking find on June 6 – almost a month after a fire broke out in a mobile home.
Neighbors reported a foul smell when crews started demolishing the burned property at the Highridge Mobile Home Park, WHNT reports.
One reportedly thought the odor was coming from an animal as they had apparently spotted cats in the yard before.
But, coroners discovered a body that’s believed to be the owner of the home Daniel Diaz.
The body was found as crews were clearing the remains of a trailer that had been destroyed, WRBL reported.

It has been sent off to a state crime lab in Montgomery for further examination, Coroner Arthur Sumbry revealed.
Neighbors said they last saw Diaz on May 9 – the day of the blaze.
Several fire crews rushed to the scene as the area suffers from a lack of hydrants and water.
Phenix City Fire Chief Kristin Kennedy said: “Real jurisdiction water authority, they’re not required to provide fire protection, water for fire protection.
