Man dies and young child seriously injured after car ploughs into them on Crawley roundabout

The collision happened at the Tushmore roundabout on Crawley Avenue, in Crawley, around 8.30am.

The red Fiat 500 car ploughed into the male pedestrian and child on the bicycle.

Police said the man died at the scene while the child was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Dan Eaton of the Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit said: "This was a busy time of the morning and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch.

"Anyone with information is asked to please contact us."


A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to assist with a road traffic collision at 8.30am on Thursday morning at the Tushmore Roundabout on the A23 in Crawley.

"Two engines were sent to the scene along with a heavy rescue vehicle.

"On arrival, crews assisted emergency services with making the scene safe, and the road was closed. We left at 10.12am."
