Hero hotel boss stops Brit tourist from brutally attacking his wife in front of her two kids by pinning him down in lobby

CCTV footage shows Max Weinbinder wrestling the thug to the ground after he reacted to his attempts to play peacemaker by punching him twice in the nose with a left jab followed by a right hook.

And Weinbinder, director of the four-star Carema Club Resort in Fornells in north Menorca, had to use brute force to pin him down again on the steps, when he tried to escape before police arrived.

The hotel boss held the angry man down till officers arrived, although local reports said his wife opted not to press charges and he was eventually let go without charge.

Last night it emerged the unnamed well-built Brit – dressed in shorts and a T-shirt and wearing a baseball cap – made a beeline for his partner after following her to the Spanish island despite a court restraining order.

She was filmed taking her two children to one side in the reception area to protect them as the hotel director took charge of the situation.

The shocking incident occurred last Friday just before 7pm.

The whereabouts of the British woman and her children was not known today, although the man was immediately taken to the island airport with a police escort for a home flight.

Weinbinder, director-general of the hotel group in charge of two hotels including the Carema Club Resort, told a Spanish TV station: “A receptionist came up to me to say a customer was being violent and insulting her and trying to grab and attack his wife.

“She was with her two children and he had followed her from England.

“He arrived two days after she reached the hotel”.

Recalling how the British man tried to flee out the front door when he realised the hotel was calling the police, he added: “I got hold of him again and didn’t let go until the police arrived to handcuff him.”

Because the wife did not want to press charges and was unable to produce the court order, officers ended up taking the thug to the airport after the hotel said it would not report him for assault as long as he left reception and did not return.

The local Civil Guard could not be reached for comment early this morning.

The resort is popular with families and budget couples, with one recent guest describing it as being in one of the most beautiful parts of the island, by a sandy beach ideal for those holidaying with children.
