Here's when Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes will officially exit The Walking Dead

We’ve waited and waited to find out when exactly Andrew Lincoln will depart The Walking Dead this season, and now the show has finally confirmed all.

Rick Grimes officially has only two episodes left on the AMC series, the show revealing the news in a tweet.

“After this week Rick Grimes has TWO EPISODES LEFT. You don’t want to miss a second of it,” The Walking Dead wrote on Twitter.

That means that we’ll say goodbye to the character in episode five, titled ‘What Comes After’.

Of course, we’re still in the dark as to how exactly Rick will go, though showrunner Angela Kang has hinted that he may not die as many have speculated.

“The intention is, this is his exit from the show. But who knows what time may bring?” she explained, suggesting the door is open for a return down the line.

“We always love our Andrew, so since we’ve got some time jumps you never know what might happen.”

Kang also said that the end for the show itself was not in sight at the moment, adding that “as long as the comic keeps going strong, it’s hard for [her] to say it has to end at this point”.

“I’ve definitely had the experience where I say, ‘This is the best storyline that has ever been written for the comics. It can’t be topped, we’re going to have to end the show.’

“But then [Robert Kirkman] comes up with an amazing twist that makes us keep on reading.”

The Walking Dead airs on AMC in the US, and on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
