Earl’s Court station evacuated as 'naked man on the tracks' sparks travel chaos and rush hour delays

Emergency crews were scrambled during rush hour as crowds of stunned commuters were led outside Earls Court.

The London Air Ambulance could be seen landing nearby, with the London Fire Brigade confirming they have two engines at the scene.

Ariana Kissel, 25, told Sun Online she saw a naked man outside the back entrance to the busy station before the drama unfolded.

She said: "There was this naked guy moaning outside the station but not saying anything in particular.

"He suddenly ran in and went under the gate really quickly and went on to the platform.

"I heard a loud whistle blow and someone told me had jumped in front of a train but it was already stopped so he wasn't seriously hurt.

"Everyone was then evacuated. It was weird because it was like it was moving in slow motion and then all of a sudden went so quickly."

Other passengers also took to social media this morning after being evacuated.

@JohnCCWaltz said: "Other than a pair of earphones, there was a completely naked man rolling around the street outside the Warwick Road entrance to #earlscourt station about 20 mins ago. Did anyone else see this?!"

@coachwithvee wrote: "Praying for the person who got hurt at #EarlsCourt seems serious as we were all evacuated pretty swiftly."

British Transport Police confirmed they were called to Earls Court at around 8.50am after concerns for the welfare of a person on the tracks.

A spokesperson said: "Officers attended alongside the colleagues from the London Ambulance Service, and a person was taken to a place of safety."

The incident has caused travel mayhem this morning with delays already on the Jubilee Line due to a signal failure at Green Park.

There are also severe delays between White City and Leytonstone eastbound due to an earlier faulty train.

And the London Overground is experiencing minor delays between Richmond and Stratford due to trespassers on the track at Homerton.
