Chilling kidnap warning as man tries to lure kids as young as 11 into black BMW

Two terrifying incidents in 24 hours have sent put families in the Stoke-on-Trent area on alert.

Cops say an 11-year-old boy on his way to buy some Christmas treats was approached by the man in the village of Harriseahead, eight miles from Stoke.

The boy was walking along Harriseahead Lane towards the Bargain Booze village store when a black BMW pulled up next to him.

The man asked him to get into the car but he refused and the BMW sped off.

It happened around 3.30pm last Sunday afternoon and the next day a man in a car approached a child as they made their way to school in Irene Avenue, in the Mill Hill area of Tunstall, just three miles from Harriseahead.

The frightened child ran to Mill Hill Primary Academy and reported it, saying the man was driving "a small black car".

Now police are appealing for witnesses to both incidents to come forward, and parents have been put on full alert.

Mill Hill school headteacher Sharon Bates said "I can confirm that a pupil raised a concern with a member of staff on arrival into school.

"The police were immediately advised and are investigating accordingly.

"The safety and well-being of all our pupils is our absolute priority and we will work with the police, our parents and carers to ensure this at all times."

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said "Officers were called to a report of a boy being approached by a man in a black BMW on Harriseahead Lane. The man in the vehicle made off. Inquiries are on-going.

"Officers are continuing to investigate after the driver of what is described as a small black car approached a pupil as they walked along Irene Avenue in the Mill Hill area of Tunstall.

"Again, the driver is reported to have offered the youngster a lift.

"The child ran to Mill Hill Primary Academy and reported the incident, which took place on Monday."
