Beggar stabbed straphanger who didn’t give him money: cops

A beggar attacked a straphanger inside a Bronx subway station, stabbing him twice in the back because the victim denied to give him 10 bucks Monday morning, police said.

The knifing occurred as the 37-year-old victim, identified by NBC New York as Paul Pagoaga, was on his way out of the 182-183 Streets/Grand Concourse station in Fordham Heights at around 7:20 a.m., cops said.

The perp, who remains at-large, was near the entrance to the station when he approached the victim, and demanded $10, authorities said.

“You’re not gonna give me money to eat?” the thug barked at Pagoaga after Pagoaga refused to fork over cash, the victim told NBC New York.

“The next thing I hear is running,” said Pagoaga, according to the news outlet, adding that as he tried to run back to the subway steps, “I feel one, two, and then he was going to stab me again and I grabbed his hand and threw him against the wall.”

An injured Pagoaga then asked his attacker what he wanted, and the man again shouted that he wanted cash, the news outlet reported.

Undeterred by his stab wounds, Pagoaga said he reached into his pocket and handed over some money.

Following the incident, the suspect, who wore a black jacket, fled onto a train inside the station.

The victim was then taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
