Where have Hunter and Mel Owen been in EastEnders?
The mother and son haven’t been seen on the Square since early January 2019 and fans have been left feeling frustrated as they seemingly disappeared without a trace.
But Mel – worried that the police were closing in on them after they paid a visit asking questions about Ray – clearly stated they were off to lay low for a while.
It’s not been specified exactly where they’ve been lying low however.
Are Mel and Hunter in trouble with the police in EastEnders?
They’re not exactly in trouble, but the police are definitely suspicious that something dodgy has gone on with them and Ray.
Ray escaped police custody and when two detectives turned up to question Mel, they found it hard to believe she hadn’t heard from him.
They were also puzzled as to why Mel – who had supposedly just discovered her new husband was a bigamist – hadn’t headed to the police station after Ray was arrested to find out what was going on.
Does Hunter still have the gun in EastEnders?
Shockingly, yes he does. Fans of the BBC soap were alarmed when Hunter told Mel he’d ditched the murder weapon but was later seen cradling the gun in an affectionate – and quite frankly – creepy manner before they headed off to lay low.
He and Mel head back to the house to remove all traces of Ray and Hunter is delighted to find the gun is still where he hid it.
At the moment Mel has no idea that her teenage son is still in possession of the firearm that killed Ray.
