What Is the Net Worth of 'Dr. Pimple Popper' Sandra Lee?

What started out as a simple blackhead extraction posted online has turned Dr. Sandra Lee aka Dr. Pimple Popper into a household name. If you weren’t one of the millions who watched her YouTube videos, you probably recognize her from her hit TV show.

Dr. Lee had a cult following before she had her own show but now those who aren’t squeamish tune in to watch her pimple-popping skills on TLC. So how did the dermatologist ended up becoming a sensation and what is her net worth today?

How she began her career

Lee was born on Dec. 20, 1970, in Flushing, New York. Her father is a retired dermatologist and she chose to follow in his footsteps.

She went to UCLA as an undergraduate before attending medical school at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Lee completed her residency at Southern Illinois University. She then moved to California and in 2014, made an Instagram page where she decided to post a video of her work. From there she uploaded clips to YouTube and then Reddit, which is where she came up with the screen name Dr. Pimple Popper.

“I posted, pretty early on, a blackhead extraction video and I noticed it had quite a reaction,” Dr. Lee told The Sun. “It got noticeable attention and likes, so I tried it again and it happened again. Over the next couple of weeks I realized there was a subculture of people on the internet that shared popping videos with each other and I was fascinated by this. I thought let’s extend it to cysts and lipomas and the surgeries that I do in my office.”

Dr. Sandra Lee’s net worth

Dr. Lee built up her internet fame by offering free treatment in exchange for patients allowing her to film and share their procedures. At one point, she was making hundreds of thousands of dollars per year just from the videos. The Sun noted that she made over $4,300 every day for the videos.

Today, Dr. Lee reportedly has a net worth between $6 and $8 million. In addition to being a YouTube superstar and one of the most well-known dermatologists on the planet, Lee has her own skin care line called
SLMD Skincare Products. The collection includes acne cleanser and lotion, clarifying treatment with retinol, and daily moisturizer. Lee has also appeared on a number of talk shows including The Doctors and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

She is married to another popular dermatologist, Dr. Jeffrey Rebish. The couple resides in Upland, California.

How to get an appointment with her

Thanks to the popularity of the show Dr. Lee is in high demand so getting an appointment with the woman herself isn’t easy.

“We have a pretty long wait for, certainly pops, anything that I need to do that would be removing like a large lipoma or cysts or blackheads, things like that, and for regular consults,” she told the Chicago Tribune.

Potential patients, who wouldn’t mind being on TV, can contact TLC to be considered for a future episode of Dr. Pimple Popper. Those applying must have lipomas, cysts, large growths, undiagnosed skin conditions, or something “oozing, draining, or bleeding.” If chosen the show pays for travel, hotel accommodations, and the actual treatment received.
