What happened in Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2 and who is going to die next episode?

THE second episode of the final season of Game of Thrones was another slow-burner leading up to the long-awaited battle of Winterfell.

But it was jam-packed with more reunions, unexpected lovemaking and a lot of character coming to completion. Here's the lowdown on season eight, episode two…

What happened in Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2?

Sansa and Daenerys struggle to end their rivalry

Dany tries her hardest to make peace with Sansa by praising her wisdom and bonding over their hate of Cersei.

She even tries to qualm Sansa's fears that Jon's love for Dany will make him do "stupid things".

However, Sansa makes it clear she won't be happy until the Starks are allowed to run the North.

Jamie knights Brienne

Jamie Lannister does one of the nicest things in Game of Thrones history and he uses his power as a knight to give Brienne of Tarth the respect she deserves.

As they enjoy their last night before the dreaded battle against the army of the dead,  he makes her a knight in front of the likes of Tyrion and Podrick.

Bran reveals what the Night King's mission is

So Bran finally used his Three-Eyed Raven powers to give us a look into the mind of the Night King.

And it turns out all he wants is the "endless night".

His mission is to destroy everything, and everyone, until Winter takes over the entire seven kingdoms.

Bran explained the Night King would be looking for him so that he could begin his erasure of the human world.

The Three-Eyed Raven represents the living memory of the world of the men and the Night King wants to get rid of him first in order to achieve complete destruction of man.

Charming.

Arya and Gendry have s-e-x

Arya Stark is shown becoming a woman in the latest episode of Game of Thrones as she beds her long-term crush, Gendry – King Robert Baratheon’s unacknowledged son – played by Joe Dempsie.

Perhaps in anticipation to fan reaction about Season Eight, Episode Two, HBO sent out a tweet to confirm Arya's age hours before the episode aired.

Jon finally tells Daenarys the truth about his parents

Jon has a deep and meaningful chat with Dany in the Stark crypt, revealing that he is actually a Targaryen too.

The whole conversation goes down in front of Lyanna Stark's statue.

Unsurprisingly, Dany is more annoyed about the fact this means Jon is now the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

We have a feeling this conversation is  to be continued…

The Night King and his army arrive at Winterfell

The final shot of the episode was the army of White Walkers and their Wights looking out at Winterfell in the distance.

Winter is finally here, folks!
