Vernon Kay will be joining Rochelle Humes on the This Morning couch for a few days this August.

This Morning regularly enlists the help of famous faces to take over as the regular hosts enjoy a summer break from the show.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have been taking over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for the past seven weeks but recently confirmed the end of their stint.

Vernon, who starred on last year's I'm a Celeb, will join Rochelle from August 31 for the rest of the week.

Speaking about his exciting new role, Vernon said: "This Morning is the daytime go to show, so to be asked to guest host on a show I’ve watched since its inception is a huge tick for me."

"I’m really looking forward to working with Rochelle and sitting on that famous sofa."

Rochelle will spend the Bank Holiday Monday with Alison Hammon and said of the news: "I’m so looking forward to hosting with the wonderful Alison Hammond again.

"I also can’t wait to welcome Vernon Kay into the This Morning family."

Eamonn Holmes recently appeared to take a swipe at This Morning for relegating him and wife Ruth to the holiday slots on the show.

Eamonn and Ruth, both 61, who revealed their unusual first date and their 'tiff' after it, recently returned to the show to cover for the summer break.

But when a viewer suggested the couple should be brought back for good – Eamonn seemingly agreed.

The TV presenter liked a tweet which read: “When you listen to @EamonnHolmes & @RuthieeL and the everyday normal things they get up to, it makes you wonder why management at @thismorning have relegated them to holidays only?

“They deserve a regular spot, bring them back for a weekly slot please, it makes sense! #thismorning.”

Many others agreed, with one writing: “I agree. Ruth and Eamonn are like a breath of fresh air. Not childish but funny. They should become the anchors of this morning.”

Another said: “Completely agree. I just can't understand why they let them go. Friday used to be my favourite day to watch this morning.”

A third added: “Couldn't agree more, love them both so funny.”
