This Morning star speaks out on Phillip Schofield’s ‘engaging’ ITV replacement

Phillip Schofield says he has ‘lost everything’

This Morning star Dan Hatfield has shared his thoughts on who could replace Phillip Schofield months after the 61-year-old’s sensational exit from the ITV magazine show.

When pawnbroker Dan was asked who he’s putting his money on to replace Phillip, he said: “You know what, I think what they’re doing at the moment, how the entire This Morning family are kind of in a rota system, really works.”

He told the Daily Star: “You’ve got Craig [Doyle] who is so funny and so engaging, you’ve got Alison [Hammond] like everyone’s big sister.

“And you’ve got Dermot [O’Leary] who is just a professional, but also is so engaging and so lovely with anyone who comes on the show.”

He concluded: “As it works now, I think it really works that the family have just pulled all together and are on the rota system.”

Will This Morning bosses keep using their presenters on a rota basis rather than recruit a new host to step into Phillip’s shoes?

Phillip worked on This Morning for more than two decades and his co-host Holly Willoughby took a two-week break earlier this summer in the wake of the scandal.

She told ITV viewers at the time she felt “shaken, troubled and let down” by Phillip who she had worked with for many years.

Holly has been presenting alongside Alison Hammon, Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle and Dermot O’Leary following Phillip’s ITV exit, but she is currently on annual leave.

Despite speculation Holly would not be returning to This Morning following the summer break, a source has claimed she will be back on screens soon.

They told the Daily Mail: “Holly is going back. People have been saying she won’t for some time now but she is.”

“ITV want her back, and they are delighted she has agreed,” they claimed. “It will be made official shortly but it will save This Morning, it will ease a huge crisis that they are in.

“It most probably would have been game over for them if Holly had left.”

ITV has been contacted for comment by Express.co.uk on the claims.

This Morning airs on weekdays between 10am and 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
