'The Young and the Restless': Is Sasha Calle Leaving?

The Young and the Restless has been airing for decades, and plenty of actors have come and gone. Sasha Calle joined the cast a few years ago, and fans became attached to her character. They enjoyed seeing her and another character get together and want them to reconcile. However, their wishes may or may not happen. Calle got cast to play Supergirl in a new DC film that will arrive in 2022. The news leaves questions about her future on the show.

Sasha Calle plays Lola on ‘The Young and the Restless’

Calle was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 7, 1998. She lived in Columbia for a couple of years before moving back to the United States. After high school, Calle went to Los Angeles to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and majored in Performing Arts. At first, Calle had dreams of having a music career but decided to become an actor. However, she still performs music and has released a cover version of Lauren Hill’s “Ex-Factor.” The actor has appeared in Socially Awkward, Young Blood, and Rogue Tiger. In 2018, Calle got cast to be in the long-running series titled The Young and the Restless.

As of today, she has been in over 200 episodes since her debut and got nominated for a Daytime Emmy. In the show, the actor plays Lola Rosales. Lola is the younger sister of Rey and Arturo Rosales. Calle’s character moves to Genoa City to live with Arturo and works from a food truck. Later, Lola gets a job as a head chef at Abby and Devon’s restaurant. She gets into a relationship with Kyle but eventually breaks up with him. However, the two end up getting married.

Sasha Calle is the first Latina to portray Supergirl

While starring in The Young and the Restless has been Calle’s biggest role so far, she is about to play an even more well-known character. According to Deadline, the young actor will star as the DC hero Supergirl. Calle will make her superhero debut in the movie The Flash. About 425 actresses auditioned for the role, but Calle stood out to the directors and producers.

Director Andy Muschietti stated. “I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.” Another reason Calle is making headlines is that she will be the first Latina woman to play Supergirl. The first actor to play the character was Helen Slater in 1984. Recently, Supergirl TV star Melissa Benoist shared her support of Calle’s casting.

Sasha Calle’s future on ‘The Young and the Restless’

A lot of times, actors cannot appear in a project due to scheduling conflicts with another production. Now that Calle is going to be in The Flash, fans wonder what this means for Lola. Will the actor leave The Young and the Restless behind? According to Soaps, there is speculation that viewers may see less of Calle in future episodes. Her character has her marriage with Kyle fall apart.

While she could have had a romantic storyline with Theo, their flirtations did not go anywhere. There even was an opportunity for a potential pregnancy storyline. With nothing keeping her in the show, there is a high chance that Calle will leave The Young and the Restless to film for The Flash. Fans may be sad at the thought of having to say goodbye to Lola Rosales. Many people still are excited to see her performance in the upcoming DC film.
