The Widow on ITV: Viewers divided by ending as Georgia Wells’ fate is revealed

Georgia’s (played by Kate Beckinsale) journey came to an end following on from the penultimate episode which found her discovering Will (Matthew Le Nevez) was still alive, albeit he had a new family now.

Will told the truth about the plane crash, that Judith (Alex Kingston) was responsible for it, after Georgia urged him to come clean about what he knew.

The police turned up to where Judith was staying and carted her away after finding out about her crimes.

Meanwhile on the ITV drama, Georgia decided to take on Adidja (Shalom Nyandiko) as the youngster came home with her to Wales.

Many viewers were absolutely elated that Adidja had found a new home with Georgia and praised the ending.

One wrote: “#TheWidow ending might’ve made me tear up a little bit. A great yarn with a great ending. Enjoyed it. #TheWidow.”

“The best ending!! At one point I thought she was going to leave Adidja behind #thewidow,” a second opined.

A third expressed: “Okay I’m very happy with that ending #TheWidow.”

“Aww I liked the end of #TheWidow now time for the last episode of #Timeless,” a fourth shared.

However, others felt the series didn’t end in the way they’d have liked with some suggesting there could’ve been more to it.

“What a disappointing ending #thewidow,” one tweeted.

Another declared: “Disappointed with the ending to #TheWidow – really enjoyed the rest of the series too.”

“How can the series end there?! #TheWidow,” a third commented.

While a fourth said: “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed. #thewidow.”

The ending saw Adidja and Martin (Charles Dance) turn up to see Georgia as he was packing away her things.

It became clear Georgia would be taking care of Adidja as the girl thanked her.

Georgia replied: “You don’t have to thank me.”

“I do, you’re giving me a home,” Adidja said.

“You have a home, we’re just making a new one together,” Georgia urged.

The writers of the programme have spoken out about the possibility of a second season where they said they had no plans to take it further.

The Widow is available to watch on ITV Hub.
