The new-look She-Ra transforms in first teaser for Netflix revival of classic cartoon

The She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Netflix revival has been given an empowering first teaser trailer (above).

The first-look footage from the show, which is a “modern take on the ’80s girl power icon for a new generation of young fans”, shows off Adora’s transformation after finding a magical sword.

She-Ra then declares her iconic line, “For the honour of Grayskull!” after completing her transformation.

The trailer comes a few months after the show teased a first-look poster that declared: “A hero will rise,” and also confirmed the voice cast for the new version, which will include stars from Orange Is the New Black and Grey’s Anatomy.

“I was always looking for the female characters in sci-fi and fantasy who were more than just the girlfriend,” co-executive producers Noelle Stevenson and Chuck Austen previously said.

“I love the female characters in She-Ra. There isn’t another show quite like it.”

She added: “She-Ra was ahead of its time. I’m so excited to bring these stories of female power and love and friendship back now when it seems like we need them more than ever.”

She-Ra was originally a spinoff from He-Man, and the She-Ra: Princess of Power series aired for 93 episodes between 1985 and 1986.

It focused on Princess Adora and her titular alter ego as she fought against the Evil Horde and its leader Hordak.

The new version is the latest in a series of ’80s reboots, including a new version of classic cartoon ThunderCats.
