The End of the F***ing World season 2 will drop on Netflix UK "more than a year" after Channel 4 launch

Bad news folks who just can’t stand ads during shows: it looks like The End of the F***ing World‘s second season won’t hit Netflix UK until over a year after its Channel 4 launch.

The dark comedy was renewed for a second season earlier this month after a successful first run, which premiered first on original broadcaster Channel 4 and then as a box set on All 4, before hitting Netflix three months later.

While the show arguably gained a much bigger audience after hitting the streaming platform, C4’s content boss has admitted they plan to hold out on giving it to Netflix much longer next time round.

“Next time we’ll run the whole series on the channel then there will be a conventional hold back of more than a year before people see it on Netflix,” Ian Katz told Deadline.

“It really bugs me that people think that show is a Netflix show, I really want to reclaim ownership of it – it’s absolutely a Channel 4 show.”

While he didn’t specify, it’s likely that Katz is only referring to Netflix in the UK here, meaning UK viewers will just have to binge the show on All4 for our first watch of the new series.

Following the new series’ announcement, C4’s drama head Beth Willis said: “We’re so proud that this global success story began at Channel 4 and that a second series is on its way.

“Charlie’s witty, wonderful world is back, and we can’t wait to see where she takes it next.”

Star Alex Lawther told Digital Spy earlier this year what he would like to see in the first scene of season 2, and you can read about what he had to say here.

The End of the F***ing World is yet to confirm a return date on Channel 4/All 4 in the UK or Netflix internationally.
