Stiletto and thigh-high UGGS get a classical makeover… and we’re not sure what to think

Previously, Y/Project brought us giant, thigh-high versions of the boots, then restyled the boots into thigh-scraping stilettos.

And things are only getting stranger.

Now, creative director Glenn Martens, from Belgium, has reimagined the sheepskin shoes onto classic nude artworks -inspired by Alexandre Cabanel, François Boucher and Simon Vouet.

Glenn told British Vogue: "The whole idea was to celebrate an iconic shoe through iconic art.

“I chose 'The Birth of Venus' as the starting point, because both the painting and the collection celebrate surfing on waves, twisting the expected and triggering the eye in optical illusions.”

Glen, who is known for his experimental approach to footwear, added: "Ugg is such a straightforward, in-your-face shoe, and Y/Project is the same.

"We go for it, we don’t care about trends. Before everything else there’s a fun factor, there’s celebration.”

What do you make of this latest campaign?

Previously, we revealed how Uggs became the celebrity fashion trend that will never die.

The Australian brand have also released a more appealing heeled boot which you can take a look at here.

But, be warned – Uggs can cause bad posture and knee injuries.
