Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe and former Bachelorette contestant Jason Tartick have been publically dating for just a few months. The two met thanks to Kaitlyn’s podcast, Off The Vine.
“We were friends. A little banter here and there and friendship turned into a relationship,” says Jason.
Kaitlyn and Jason got together about three months after Kaitlyn split from Shawn Booth, the winner of her season of The Bachelorette back in 2015. According to a joint statement the couple shared, the breakup was amicable and the two plan on remaining friends as they move forward.
The hookup story
In a recent episode of Off The Vine, Kaitlyn and Jason shared the story, in front of a live audience, of the first time the couple hooked up.
Kaitlyn explained to her listeners that, at the time, she had been on her period. Since things were getting “hot and heavy,” she suggested an alternative to traditional sex.
“I was like, ‘Yo, let’s just dry hump.’ So we did. Literally, I had pants on,” she said. “We were fully clothed and hot and heavy.” She went on to say that “in five minutes, he picked my nose and gave me an orgasm.”
Kaitlyn and Jason believe the story may have been an overshare
On the following episode of Off The Vine, Kaitlyn spoke about the effect a live audience has on her performance.
“Once you’re on a stage, you really let loose and you want to please the crowd,” she said. “When you mix in all the tequila shots that were sent our way” you get “an inappropriate podcast.”
She realized the story might have crossed a line once publications began writing about the couple’s first hookup.
“When I read it as the article, I was like, ‘Oh, damn, that’s a lot. I don’t want my family reading that,’ ” she said. “But in the moment, it’s so funny because it’s a confession and the whole room is laughing.”
She continued:
“I think people were like, ‘Damn, that’s gross,’ but I’m like, ‘You kind of had to be there.’”
“That being said… inappropriate,” Jason chuckled.
Unapologetic is Kaitlyn’s brand
Though Kaitlyn and Jason discussed on the following episode of Off The Vine that the story might have been an overshare, Kaitlyn, historically, has been someone who’s stood by her words and actions. She’s, famously, known for having sex with a contestant before the fantasy suites episode during her time as The Bachelorette. When the episode aired she brought attention to the double standard women are subjected to when it comes to their sex lives. On her podcast, she regularly talks about her life in an unfiltered sort of way, and she doesn’t apologize for it. She’s one of the first feminist figures Bachelor Nation has ever celebrated.
Whether she deems the story to be an overshare or not, her fans are sticking by her.
And, of course, Jason is sticking by her as well.
On Jason’s Instagram story right now he’s featuring a number of videos where he’s celebrating his girlfriend’s “unbelievable tour.” He calls Kaitlyn “a leader amongst her peers” and congratulates her on “[empowering] people to own it.”
