If you have been falling the drama surrounding former Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans, you know things have gotten pretty serious for the mother of three. She is in a custody battle and refuses to leave her husband.
While drama is nothing new for the 27-year-old reality star, things are a little more serious this time. Let’s take a look at why fans want Evans to leave her husband and why she refuses to do so.
‘Teen Mom’ fans have cried abuse for years
Though Jenelle Evans and David Eason are currently in the headlines, this is not the first time the couple has been in the news. Back in early 2018, Eason sparked outrage when he made homophobic remarks to a fellow user on Twitter. MTV quickly fired Eason from Teen Mom.
Evans stood by her husband insisting that these comments did not reflect his personal views.
Later that year, the police were called to the couple’s home after Eason reportedly attacked his wife. In a 911 call, Evans told the dispatcher that her husband pushed her to the ground and she thought she heard her collar bone pop. Evans later explained the incident as a “drunk and dramatic misunderstanding.”
Evans recently lost custody of her children
In late April, fans were enraged when they learned that Eason killed the family’s young bulldog. Eason claimed that the dog threatened their young daughter and that his response was appropriate. Eason defended his remarks on Instagram, writing in part, “I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face… whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I don’t put up with that s— at all. I’m all about protecting my family, it is my life’s mission.”
Shortly after the dog’s death, Nathan Griffith, Evans’ ex and father to her 4-year-old son Kaiser, called the police requesting a welfare check. This ultimately led to a criminal investigation regarding the dog’s death.
As a result, Evans and Eason have temporarily lost custody of their children. Kaiser is currently staying with his father while Evans’ other two children are with her mother. Eason 11-year-old daughter is currently living with his mother.
Fans have questioned the couple’s fight to reunite with their children. The couple has reportedly chosen not to pursue custody of Eason’s oldest child Maryssa or Evans’ oldest, Jace. With Eason’s behavior at the center of the children’s removal from the home, fans are questioning why Evans won’t leave her husband to regain custody of her children.
Further complicating the matter, Evans recently posted a picture of her and her daughter on Instagram. On it, she captioned that she was calling CPS on her family. This made many fans believe that she would be calling CPS on her own mother, potentially risking sending her children to foster care.
Why does Jenelle Evans refuse to leave David Eason?
It’s easy to judge someone’s decisions from the outside, but there are many factors that could be causing Evans to stay with Eason. It could be that fans simply don’t know the whole story.
While from the outside it looks like Eason is abusive and dangerous and leaving him is a no brainer, there may be more to the story than meets the eye. We have to remember that Evans was on a reality show. Reality shows are notorious for adding a few scripted elements.
And while the details of their dog’s shooting are horrifying, it’s hard to know exactly what was going on when Eason made his fateful decision.
If worries that Eason is an abuser are actually true, things are much more difficult than just walking away, even if kids are involved. Victims of abuse find it hard to break away from their abuser and may not even realize that the abuse is as bad as it is.
If there is any psychological abuse involved, it can be very difficult for Evans to break away.
