Strictly’s Helen Skelton collapses on floor after gruelling rehearsal with partner Gorka Marquez

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton looked visibly exhausted after a sweaty dance rehearsal with pro partner Gorka Márquez.

The Countryfile presenter, 39, appeared to have collapsed on the floor while practicing her Cha Cha – but thankfully managed a reassuring thumbs up to indicate she wasn't doing too badly.

In the video shared on Gorka's Instagram, Helen and her pro partner could be seen joking about their tough schedule, which included appearing on ITV's Lorraine at 9.30am the next morning.

Gorka, 32, began by declaring: "And that's a wrap," before panning to a worn out Helen and asking: "Are you alright?"

Managing to sit up slightly before crashing back to the ground, Helen replied: "Good."

The professional then stated: "You're going to crawl to your bed." Helen quipped: "What's a bed? I haven't seen one for a while."

Discussing their upcoming Lorraine appearance, Helen joked she wouldn't need a shower because of how much she was sweating.

She said: "If I put goggles on I wouldn't have to do my make up in the morning because I would have already had a shower and save five minutes."

Gorka replied: "I'm not going to shower, I'm going to wear the same clothes."

Helen and Gorka got off to an admirable start in last week's Strictly live show, scoring 23 out of a possible 40 for their elegant American Smooth.

While nobody went home in week one of the competition, tonight's (Saturday 1 October) show will be followed by the first Strictly 2023 elimination just 24 hours later.

Ahead of this evening's episode – which will see them perform the Cha Cha to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande – Helen has been keeping fans up to date on how training is going and even shared a snap of her "battered feet."

The 39 year old's feet appeared red with blood on her heel and strap marks from her dancing shoes were also clearly visible.

Uploading the Instagram story post on Tuesday 27 September, Helen wrote: “And the aim of the game is to be sexy… not with these trotters #nopainnogain.”

It comes after the she revealed she broke down in tears and tried to escape ahead of her Strictly debut last Saturday.

Appearing on Radio 5 on Friday, Helen reflected: “I had a little cry. I’m normally cool, calm and collected.

“I got on the dance floor and they said, ‘When the audience come in…’ and I went, ‘Oh crikey, yeah, there’s people. I was like, ‘There’s a fire door, there, I can get out of it,’ and I did.

“And Gorka found me and said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘Just having a minute.’ I literally ran. It was like when I did Celeb SAS, I tried to escape that.”
