Simon Cowell breaks two-year Instagram silence to share rare snap of son Eric

SIMON Cowell has shared a rare photo of his five-year-old son Eric – breaking his two-year Instagram silence.

The 59-year-old music mogul shocked his 1.3million followers when he posted a sweet snap of the little boy reading a book.

In the picture, Eric looks cosy in a pair of race car pyjamas and is bare foot as he reads a children's book while snuggled into a white arm chair.

Simon captioned the candid photo: "Eric reading his new favourite book 'Come Find Me' and it's illustrated by my friend @terrycrews!"

The star's fans were blown away by how big Eric now is, with many remarking that they could see a strong resemblance between Simon and his mini-me.

One follower commented: "Aww he is getting so big!"

Another wrote: "Definitely looks like his dad in this pic."

A third added: "He is so handsome – just like his dad."

Prior to this, Simon's last Instagram post was on 20 June 2017, where he promoted Artists for Grenfell's charity single Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Last month, The Sun Online revealed that Simon has splashed out a staggering £30,000 for Eric's fifth birthday party, which was inspired by Hugh Jackman film The Greatest Showman.

The TV star hired London’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel for the star-studded bash, which saw Cheryl, Alesha Dixon, and Katie Piper among the celebrity guest list.

A party insider told us: "Simon spared no expense in making sure it was the perfect occasion for little Eric. The kids got to sing their favourite songs from the film and the whole place was decked out just like the circus.

"Everyone was joking that Simon was like Hugh Jackman’s character because he was the ringmaster.

"Loads of celebrities were invited with their families and Eric’s own friends came, too."

Simon and girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 41, played host at the five-star hotel where rooms can cost more than £10,000.

The Hugh Jackman musical was one of the most popular films of 2018 while the soundtrack was the best-selling album of the year, shifting more than 1.6million copies.
